It is known for its wide and long sandy beach, which is considered by many as the world's longest natural sandy sea beach.[2][3]The beach in Cox's Bazar is a continuous 120 kilometres (75 mi) sandy sea beach with a gentle slope. It is located 152 kilometres (94 mi) south of the industrial port of Chittagong. Cox's Bazar is also known by the name Panowa, whose literal translation means "yellow flower".[4] Its other old name was "Palongkee". Today, Cox's Bazar is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in Bangladesh. It has yet to become a major international tourist destination, and has no international hotel chains because of the lack of publicity and transportation.
